Can we talk about how broken the mobile editor is?

This  is what I’m greeted with when I try to upload a picture on my phone. The button for it isn’t even all the way on the screen, and is a tiny 40x30 pixel pinprick. “Why not just dismiss the keyboard?” you say. Well, you see, the image upload only works if the typing cursor is active in body of the editor. Doing that, on an android phone at least, makes the keyboard pop up.

The cherry on top is that if you miss the tiny button (wich on my screen is less than a quarter the size of my pinky nail) your cursor goes away. You have to pull the keyboard back up then scroll back up to the image button using the gunslit of the page that’s actually visible.

That, and trying to delete a picture just sends you to the top of the page instead of deleting it no matter how many times you attempt.

You can delete the keyboard while still keeping the curser active. Click a spot in the body of the article, keyboard pops up, press backspace to get rid of keyboard—curser is still active— then click the image button.

I’m still annoyed at the left margin being cut off ofter 4+ months...

I get a 50/50 succes s rate with that.

Don't forget about when it duplicates the image except the second one isn't clickable and can't be deleted but mysteriously vanishes when you publish the post.

I also have a horrid time trying to even view comments on my PC. I almost always get a page that looks like I have low bandwidth, the other stories show up as huge pictures not the tiny grid they are supposed to look like, and trying to reply just bounces me to the top of the page again.

Curiously, on my iPhone the mobile version loads just fine. So editing posts aside, I can still use these site on my phone.

TBH I am used to this lack of actually working logical stuff so if it was fixed I wouldn’t know what to do with myself.

This is why I’m not really a fan of Kinja mobile; the vast majority of my posts are made on a computer.

That second picture is actually seen as text and can be easily backspaced. If you look at the far right side of the duplicate you can see a flashing black line as you would when typing letters.

If you ask good the desktop version of the site it works on mobile, you just have to deal with slightly annoying zooming in and out sometimes.

I have NEVER been able to use the mobile editor for making any posts. I always have to use desktop mode in chrome to post anything on here. That is just step one after hittting “compose post” every time.

It’s all bad, theres no more editorial control to make things bold or italicized, the problem you mention above aswell as the fact that about 15% of the screen on either side is cut off so you cant see spelling at the beginning of a new line , the second letter of a new sentance sometimes duplicates, writing in the headlines will randomly jump down into the post body, backspace on a word can randomly jump leading to deleting an image that tool literally 5 minutes to load, not being allowed to post in the post body, if its 12am and you try to change it to PM it will read just itself back to am leading you to just move the time into 1pm and wait, low res images will appear as a sliver of the given aspect ratio until posted, if an image is loading with no words it may not allow you to access your keyboard, 100% chance there are more irritating things to contend with.

This is an android with up to date google chrome, sometimes when kinjas extra borked I have to stop posting or commenting o n oppo because its infuriating to do anything, this is rapidly approaching that point.
